The areas of Risk, Uncertainty Analysis, Design, and Optimization cut across a  range of disciplines which often make use of related methodologies in order to tackle overlapping aspects of the same problems.

Thanks to a generous gift, the Pratt School of Engineering has resources to support these areas through new faculty appointments and new educational programs.  In part to describe Duke's activities in these areas, in part to explore potential research partnerships, and in part to identify educational opportunities, we seek to develop a campus-wide identity for research and education in these fields.
